The promoters of Sree Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology & Science -Jayanthi Educational Society was formed and registered under Telangana (Telangana Area) public society's registration Act on 7th October, 1997.
The members of the society are drawn from different professions and occupations. They came together with a broad objective of establishing and managing Institutions of engineering, medical, pharmacy, agriculture and commerce in rural areas.
The members of the society have established SVITS as their venture 1998, with the approval of AICTE, New Delhi, government of A.P and JNTU. With keen and selfless motive, they marched ahead with success and established Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and Technology, a second venture at M.P Patelguda, Ibrahimpatnam mandal in the outskirts of Hyderabad during 2007-08.

One day National Level Technical Contest (SVITS QUEST) is conducted on 24th February 2019 to bring up the talent of engineering students. This event is being jointly organized by all the departments of the institution.
